As soon as I saw the Paper Garden Stamp set I thought “Sympathy card”. I guess it was the silhouetted look of it, I have since seen lots of other ideas for it but decided to go with my original idea. I always tell my customers and friends to try and keep a sympathy card or two on hand, this is because when the need arises you might not feel in the crafting mood.

I combined Paper Garden with a few sentiments from D1584 Big Hug which is my “go to” stamp set for the less cheery moments in life, when someone might just be needing a Big Hug.

D1584 - perfect for when someone needs a big hug.

I used our large 4″ x 5″My acrylix block. They are so crystal clear and have a good weight and thickness, with ergonomic thumb ridges along two edges making them super comfy to use.

My first idea was to stamp the image onto three different coloured cardstocks and cut them into three to make a triptych , stamping the image onto three different cardstock colours and then cutting each into three, I used Bamboo, Flaxen and Olive.

I didn’t actually end up liking how they looked when done, so abandoned that idea for the time being. Do you ever have that happen?

I ended up settling on using the  brushstrokes stamp set for the background. I used second generation stamping, stamping most of the colour off on scrap paper before stamping my image, to get a more muted tone of Flaxen, Sweet Leaf and Crystal Blue.  I stamped my images and sentiment directly not one of our bulk white Daisy card bases to make a quick, simple and economical  card. At $23.00 for a pack of 50 cards and envelopes these bulk packs are fantastic value for money.
